About

I’m a social entrepreneur exploring creative approaches to positive, effective activism.

I’ve spent most of my life in the SF Bay Area, growing up in Santa Rosa, going to school at Stanford, and living in Mountain View, Palo Alto, San Francisco, and now Berkeley. I’ve been involved with a variety of projects, but most recently I’ve been focused on a new consumer movement called Carrotmob.

In March 2008, I orchestrated the first ever Carrotmob campaign [video]. This event was the beginning of the Carrotmob organization, which is now at the center of a growing global movement. Soon after launching Carrotmob, I co-founded Virgance, an incubator for social enterprises. We incubated Carrotmob and other great projects (most prominently One Block Off The Grid, a company that does group-purchasing for solar energy systems) for a year and a half. In February, 2010 we spun out all the projects in our incubator to be separate entities. Most of our team went on to work on our solar project (for which we raised $5MM), but I started working full-time on Carrotmob, incorporating as a new non-profit, building a new team, and building new technology. This is an extremely exciting time. As I speak with people about what we can do with this movement, the energy is palpable in every conversation. If you would like to get involved, or would like to hear more about what we’re working on, drop me an email.
